Princess Irene of Greece

On May 13, 1999, I performed in a gala concert for HRH Princess Irene of Greece in Ford Recital Hall at the Indiana University (now Jacobs) School of Music in Bloomington. The concert was organized by IU piano faculty member Emile Naoumoff, who had met the princess many years ago when they were both students of the legendary French pedagogue Nadia Boulanger. I was extremely grateful to Professor Naoumoff for providing me with this unique opportunity. Princess Irene, who loves music, was very gracious and appreciative. We had a pleasant talk afterwards and she was happy to sign my copy of her mother Queen Frederika's autobiography A Measure of Understanding.
